Port Miou Expedition
June 2004
Day 6

Day 6 was the big push so Jerome had the day before off being a tourist. Unfortunately, this meant that our official photographer, Rosie, also had the day off too. I went to dive at Le Bestouan (and chat up girls in bikinis on the beach). Le Bestouan for me was a much better dive than Port Miou, the cave is not on the same scale as Port Miou (which has huge passage) but is still big, the water is clear and the cave is beautiful.

Today is the big day and Thomas is so excited that he is skipping with a UV-36 on his shoulder.
Jerome, scooter king of Cassis. Whatever you want, going cheap
The last day... that means no more carrying these b*stard Aquazepps.
Micheal preparing to do a set-up dive prior to Jerome's push.
Jerome kitting up prior to his big push. It starts with a 400m scooter just to get to the cave, 500m to the barrage, crossing (somehow) the barrage and then 2000m just to get to the top of the shaft before actually starting the deep dive.
Thomas and I help Jerome to put everything on.
Almost ready to go
And him setting off towards the cave. He should not be due back for around eight hours.
Bad news, Mister Murphy strikes again. He is a frequent visitor on these trips. A series of minor incidents meant that there was no chance the push was going to happen.
Jerome and Mr Murphy happen to be good friends.
The great Enzo
Michael's Aquazepp. The blade snapped as soon as he switched it on to begin his set-up dive for Jerome.
Jean-Luc, diver, local fisherman and saviour of a completely burnt-out bunch of divers.
As the deco chamber wasn't needed for the dive, we decided to take it in turns seeing who we could blow up. To save having to go inside, Michael pretends that he knows what he is doing at the controls.
Personally, I think he is making it up
